Holiday In Somaliland

Bordered by Djibouti in the northwest, Ethiopia in the south and west, and the Gulf of Aden to the north, the Republic of Somaliland is strategically located to give tourist amazing sights and attractions. In fact, among the countries located in the Horn of Africa, this unrecognised independent state has the most rapidly budding tourism industry in the region. The country indeed has some outstanding locations and places that are worthy exploring. Among them are the paintings on the walls of Laas Gaal, a cave and rock complex located near the outskirts of the country's capital city Hargeisa. The cave painting is estimated to have been made around 3000 BCE. Before a group of French archaeological experts discovered the paintings in 2002, the cave was used by the nomadic people as a place for shelter during heavy rains, but it is now under the watch of local villages and the country's tourism ministry for preservation. Another noteworthy attraction in the country is the Naasa Hablood twin hills. The hills, which are located just as outside Hargeisa, are considered to be a majestic national landmark. Local tales said that the Naasa Hablood were formed after an earthquake struck the region millions of years ago.

Meanwhile, aside from these natural attractions, Somaliland also have numerous man-made, historic attractions that are worthy of visit. Few of them are the war memorial and the Freedom Arch in Hargeisa, the historic town of Sheikh near Berbera, and the historic city of Zeila (which was once a part of the Ottoman Empire.
